Sharing your location

Create a share code, choose how long sharing lasts and how long the invite admits new followers, then send the link. Sharing stops by itself when the duration runs out, unless you chose Unlimited.

Why the link matters

The link carries the key that decrypts your position. The eight-character code on its own is not enough: a follower who types it in sees "Open the share link to unlock" until they open the link.

Someone can't see me

Check that the code has not expired or been revoked, that the invite window is still open, that a seat is free (a code admits between 1 and 10 devices), and that sharing is not paused in Settings. Location access must be set to Always for sharing to continue while the app is closed.

Stopping

Revoke a code in Share codes to cut off everyone holding it, immediately. Pause sharing in Settings stops all sharing at once. Delete my data in Settings ends every code and removes this phone's data from Beacons. If you delete the app instead, its codes stop updating and are ended after 30 days.

Battery

Beacons waits for the movement events your phone already produces rather than taking a fix on a timer, and skips an upload when you have barely moved.
